A recent journey for me has been into the field of data science. As someone who enjoys both mathematical rigor and software engineering challenges, I'm drawn to the way data science provides a middle ground between the two. It allows me to leverage my years of advanced mathematical training while solving real-world problems through software. Python is my language of choice, with a focus on libraries such as Pandas, scikit-learn, NumPy, and Matplotlib.
In the summer of 2025, I participated in the IMA Math-to-Industry Boot Camp. During the first three weeks I took short courses in statistical modeling, machine learning, and optimization. The last three weeks were devoted to company sponsored projects where I worked with four teammates on a U.S. Bank project that modeled mortgage-backed security price curves. We used linear regression and machine learning on large financial datasets to build parsimonious models that improved pricing predictions.
